THE MERMAID OF CRATER LAKE by Jennifer Burton Stolz is an incredibly imaginative debut YA novel told in dual timelines of 1900 and 1973 about a winsome young girl who discovers her grandmother was a mermaid captured by a deaf and malevolent sailor off the Chilean coast and brought up to remote Crater Lake in Oregon. The girl embraces her mermaid heritage, finds love, and learns much about herself and the legends of a mythical seafaring people that turn out to be true to life.
About the Author
Jennifer grew up on the water in Florida and now lives in Washington State, on Puget Sound. She has always been fascinated by the ocean and marine mammals, and is an avid swimmer, boater, and whale watcher. After a trip to Crater Lake in Oregon, a sacred place known for its many mysteries and myths, she was inspired to write a young adult fantasy novel about mermaids.
